I like the contrast of the bird/plant to the background. Use mask?

I love the effect on the image. Was it Pixel Bender? A very nicely captured moment. Thanks for sharing

Lovely image with nice contrast between the foreground and background. I would suggest a crop from the top and left, so that the plant exits the frame at the upper left corner. We would love to know a bit about your steps in making your images, if you chose to share that.

Stuart, I like the depth of the image. The dark green bg nicely accentuates the light subject. I agree with Kerry's suggested crop and would also like to know how you got the effect.

Very effective combination of lighting, composition and bird & perch! The nearly white heron, with that dynamic red eye, stands out beautifully against the very dark green bkgd. The weed perch nearly parallel to the heron makes a very good diagonal composition. Good suggestion above about cropping. Is this oil paint with PS?

The bird stands out nicely. I like how it is peeking around the plant. Gorgeous colors in the bird. Nice work with the whites. I'd like to see less texture in the bg, but I think this is the look you like.
