Taken back in March of 2011, Bright sun with a thin haze, approximately 11.00 A.M. This one had just launched off of the lake above the spillway, flying in front of a concrete retaining wall.

Would prefer a little more room on the bottom as he was low and forward in the frame when captured, 3rd in a burst sequence.

For this one I used Don's ACR approach to processing posted in the workflow forum, first attempt with that method. As always C&C welcome and appreciated.

    Randall:

Excellent exposure, nice display of near wing, sheen on head good as is the iris, background color complimentary.

Yes to a bit more room below( very easy to add if so inclined), but works as is.

    Nice head angle, drops.

    A very nice capture.

    Cheers

Well exposed, and a nice display of colors, Randall. Although the bird is angled away, the head turn makes it work. Nice sharp details. A looser crop would work a bit better imo. Very nicely done.

    You nailed the iridescence.
    The tight comp works well.
I like the level POV and the light. I might sharpen the eye area just a bit more.
I just wish the primaries of the far wing were not intersecting with the neck.

I do agree with the crop suggestions but I really love the way the duck is looking off to the side, and love those drops of water falling off behind. Great image

Beautiful banking shot Randall with very nice curled wings and head angle and love how the wing colors look ablaze.

Wow, excellent flight shot. Wing pose and head angle are great. I wish me a little bit more sharpness. Well done, Randall

Thanks everyone for the review and advice-it is much appreciated. Re: sharpness, this one was exported on the low setting in LR5's sharpen for screen as I was afraid to introduce a contrast halo along the under side of the neck. The eye has a very hazy appearance to it, I'll try to clean that up a little more as well as revisit the settings and see what I can do.

Thanks for the C&C. Added a mild round of Topaz adjust, export sharpened in LR5.
