I think it is very nice Grahame, it has a nice sort of sketch look to it. I might lighten up on the vignette just a bit though.

Agree re: vignette- I ran this one through one of my Topaz Labs custom pre-sets aimed at recovering shadows while maintaining contrast. No additional tweaks-I feel the image is a nice one, worth spending some time experimenting with.

Yes, very nice and worth some effort. I like the way Randall brought out some shadow detail. And I really like the tree BG. What is the bird? Some sort of dove?

I like what Randall did with the shadows and vignette. The blur you applied to the base was a good idea, and I really like the backlighting.

I agree that the vignette was too dark and encroaching on the head of the dove. I like the effect of the greens in the bkgd and the tree branch provides a good base for the bird. The image has an engraving look to it.

Thanks Nancy It took me awhile to see the potential. But the more I see it the more I like it.

Grahame, this reminds me of a John Audubon painting. Lightening the image and reducing the vignette was heplful.

Hi, Grahame, it reminds me of an Audubon also! I think it's a lovely image and I agree with the comments above that a lighter vignette would be better.

I like the detail in the bird. Very nicely done. I find I'm distracted by the rock/branch the bird is perched on--maybe reduce detail there? I like the simplicity.

Thanks Anita. That base worried me from the start. I did blur it a bit will try making it darker.
