I am really enjoying my new 10-22mm on the 40D... it is opening me up to all kinds of new compositions that I previously could not attain with the 17-40, etc, and I love seeing and composing various foreground elements that catch my eye. This image was created a couple weeks back on a quiet morning in Arches National Park...

    John,

Good use of a FG element, in this case the arcing line of the rock, to draw the viewer into the image. Also, having the FG in shadow and the BG in sun adds depth to the image.

    Hi John,
I think Robert makes a very good point of your FG element line........and i will add you did well with your selection of minimizing the sky and the placement of courthouse towers. Nicely handled with what was presented to you.
