I like the bird, the pose--atypical for this species, the light angle, the sharpness, and the BKGR. A natural perch would be preferred. You did well with what looks like relatively harsh light. At what time was the image made? You might try lowering the contrast just a bit with a reverse S-Curve....

ps: I think that the bird is now named Green Heron. BTW, we are pretty much neighbors.

Hello Arthur, thank you for viewing, commenting and suggesting improvements to my image. I followed your advise and applied a reverse S-curve to lower the contrast. That image was captured just before noon today. I know a time with not the best light but I try to make the most of every day out. Yes we are almost neighbors. I just drove by Indian Lake Estates on Monday going from Merritt Island NWR to Joe Overstreet Road before heading home. Maybe someday our paths will cross. Thanks again, here is the RP with the reverse S-curve.
P.S. I also eliminated the harsh shadows from the toes on the perch ( dead give away of the time of day/angle of the sun).

Great feather details and head angle is also nice. We had a nest in our yard a few years back and every image I got had an extremely busy background. You've done well to get one out in the open like this. I like this one, good job.
Hi Joe, The repost is better. Great job with the toes. And you are most welcome.
