    Default SAN XAVIER MISSION

On a recent visit to Tucson, Arizona I photographed the San Xavier Mission at sunset. It was a clear day without a cloud in the sky. The mission images had a pleasant warm hue: however, the sky was featureless. I started playing with Nik's Analog and was pleasantly surprised. I applied Analog (failed to keep track of the components) to a B&W layer. I used this layer with a layer mask over the original and brushed back some of the color. A touch of Nik CEP4 Sunshine added some warmth and a small Nik border was added.

Exactly three years ago tomorrow, on March 12, 2011, I was there. Coincidentally, a pow-wow was going on, and -- although I wanted to -- I couldn't get a shot like this without a lot of people in it. You got a great shot from a nice perspective and processed it very well. I like the browns and grays together. It has a wonderful look. You did a superb job of adding interest to the sky, too. Very, very well done.

Nice image and effects, as Dennis said tough to get a photo without people, my favorite kind of framing burnt edges. Maybe its just my eyes but would a slight CW rotation help. Well done

Gary, I love your processing on what looks like a very good base image. I think I agree with Paul on the rotation and I would probably clean up the small dots (that are probably from Analog) in the sky.

I really like the clean lines of the Mission and the subtle glow with the pale color. The gray gritty sky is a good addition. I probably would not have noticed those dots that Cheryl mentions, but now I do and you might want to remove the more obvious ones. Also agree on a slight rotation needed.

Thanks to all for the look and comments. After some prospective correction there was not a square angle in the image. The repost brings the left wall of the image to vertical resulting in a slight CW rotation. I also eliminated the white dots.

Great image! The repost is even better. Love the processing you did. By creating an almost monotone image, the architecture, lines, details are emphasized. The color is just right for the subject matter. Very, very nice work.

Excellent treatment and just perfect for the subject. The color treatment gives the image a "gracefully aged" look. Very nicely done.

Really nice tones Gary and the architecture is beautiful. The analog I think gave it a postcard look and goes well with the image I think. Good job of straightening, but maybe a little more room at the top near that cross.
