    Default Black-Throated Sparrow

I photographed this Black-Throated Sparrow in an arroyo near my house. It was singing away perched on this cactus; either that or screaming in pain! :)

Nice clean composition and catching the bird singing is a plus. Good exposure with detail in the whites. Is this one of the cholla cacti? Those spines have tiny barbs on them (I know from painful experience!) so once they are in you, they don't come out easily. Looks like this bird is carefully standing tall. :)

I like it! Good singing pose and the blue sky is just right. For some reason I would like to see the bird a little smaller in the frame with more of the perch showing.

Nice singing pose. If anything, I'd like to see just a hair off the bottom.

Great work, Doug! I really like this image a lot! What a cool perch! The technicals look right on, very nice background, good looking subject and nice pose. I think you could a little bit lighter though... what do you think?

Probably could have gone a bit lighter Blake; have to agree with you.

That's what I was thinking... just a hair really, you've got a little room in the whites to bring out some more detail in the chest feathers and face :)

EDIT: actually a little more than just a hair :D

Doug, a great image of one of my favorite sparrows. Cool perch, my vote is for screaming in pain:)

I like the repost a little better.
