Emptied my boots 5 times for these shots. The tide was playing tricks on me and the foam was an interesting white to expose. Winter on the Oregon coast.

Looks very sharp and you did a good job with the exposure in the relatively harsh light. The right hand bird is turned a bit too much toward us and the left hand bird is facing away from us.

I am guessing that this is a fairly large crop; please post a JPEG that represents the full frame original capture.

This image is really working for me. I love the fact that the pair are in the same frame...together yet apart. The splash is powerful along with the rest of the environment. Both angles on the bird work for me.

Douglas, You did something wrong. You did not add canvas so it is not possible for the image in Pane 1 to be wider than the original, but it is.... Assuming that the image in Pane 1 is only a small crop what threw me was the apparent d-o-f at f/f.56 with the 2nd bird seemingly inches at least behind the front bird....

well a native crop was 1400x900 and the webcite would not accept so I downsized. I checked the file info again and i cannot understand how the DOF appears so deep. first post was actually 1200x800 I see now.

Exposure control and colours are perfect. One bird looks at the photographer and the other in the distant. The BG with the waves is great. For me works the image fine.

I have no idea what a "native crop" is. If you convert an image, open it in Photoshop, set the crop to 1200 pixels, and save it as a JPEG you will have a 3X2 proportioned JPEG that represents the original capture. As for the great d-o-f, I have no explanation :)
