Ok, I can hear you thinking "what does this have to do with geometry?" The fact is, I was definitely thinking of the lines of the playground equipment when I took this photo as part of a family shoot. Not only do they frame her and add visual interest, but they are also a nice contrast to her soft lines and glowing personality. I used Nik Analog Efex Pro - a very much overlooked and little-understood plugin that I have learned to love. This was a variant of the "vintage camera" preset.

Kerry, I love the geometric shapes in the foreground as well as the background. I like it a lot and I admire your use of Analog - I've had a hard time with it and I guess I need to do a tutorial or something. This inspires me to try harder with it

Hi Kerry, I really like analog efex too. The girl is precious and I like the effect of shooting through a "window" of sorts to the girl. I might be tempted to make the frame thinner.

I understood the geometry part right away. It was trying to figure out the connection with a singer/songwriter from the 1960s that stymied me. Her hair isn't blowin' in the wind . You've got a number of great contrasts in the image and a very endearing subject. The combination gives a very nice result.

Because I already had Alien Skin Exposure and wasn't using it a lot, I did little more than take a quick look at Analog Efex when I realized it had been added to the Nik Collection.

Kerry, you said it well with this being a wonderful contrast of soft and hard lines, bright & light of the girl vs. the solid and dark wood frames. Lovely vignette effect to further put your eyes on the girl (as if she wasn't so adorable that she would stand out anywhere!).

Beautiful shot of the girl--happy, and sunny. The dark colors surrounding here are definitely a contrast, and make her stand out. A beautiful portrait. I've mixed feelings about the black--it works, as I mentioned earlier, but, the somber tones seem at odds with the joyful girl.
