Black-fronted Dotterel (Elseyornis melanops)
Hi all took this very small bird at the Western Treatment Plant in Victoria Australia..
5d mk iii, 500mm and 2x iii..
f/9m iso 400 and 1/800 used the ground for stability.. lowred the highlights a touch and maybe 5% crop just to straight it up a touch.. sharpened the resized jpg.

Cheers,
Merv

Love the graduated BG on this one. Would do some noise reduction on the BG.

Great shot! Actually, I thought the noise in the BG is not bad. On the other hand, the whites above the legs are a bit bright. I wish the angle of the bird is a bit better.

Beautiful subject and a really nice smooth BG. The techs look great and the tiny hot spot over the leg can be reduced in a second. BG looks ok to me too but a little more NR cant hurt and a bit more sharpening after resizing would really make it pop.
Nice capture

Sweet shorebird, love that orbital ring and complimentary bill color. I enjoy the low angle work and nicely defined foreground bits from not going too low. Really nice tones and transitions in the bg.

Very nice species, a new one for me so TFS!
Love the red eyering and pose. BG is also very nice and agree with Alan regarding NR on BG. The head angle is not very good but man! I would love to have this one in my files!

Sweet looking bird with a great low angle, beautiful BG and colours. I also like the pebbles on the ground. Head angle mentioned, and I think the image could stand another round of sharpening for web presentation.

Hi Daniel, I'm not to sure on what you mean by another round of sharpening for web?.. My method is to save the jpg resized with no sharpening at all, then I sharpen the reiszed image at around 50 in lightroom.
cheers,
Merv
