White rhino on the African continent walking freely, hope it still does! This was taken many moons ago.

Taken from a jeep, lucky that the road-path-wilderness trail we have been on was quite deeper than the bush the rhino was happily feeding on.

Processing: LR - WB and usual adjustments I do. Brought into PS, levels, mid tones, contrast, sharpened in PS.
No saturation or vibrance added. The rhino was rolling itself 1 hour before or so in the mud of a little natural lake.

Taken around 10am, was a bit overcast.

    Hi Anette,
just wanted to start in mother language , but then i realized there is no translate option in here, so i stick to my rudimentary english……………..

Nice Rhino portrait with good details and tonal range in the subject, love the red color on the skin. The BG works nice with different variations of colors almost like layers.
The LLC is a bit light for me , kind of distracting. But the biggest issue for me is the grass in front or better said around the eye, not much you could do, i think .Not sure if you are a big PRO in cloning?
Took the image into PS where it looks better than here, overall a tad light and thin, i think there is more detail to extract without loosing the overcast scenario. i feel.

I like the perspective here and his colour is interesting - rolling red dirt no doubt.
I wish that grass wasn't in front of the eye!

I also like the reddish color and the very fine details of the skin and the horn. The contrasting softness of the surrounding grass is good, but Ouch on the piece running through the eye.

Hi Anette - I too like the reddish mud color and detail on the horns. Unfortunately, I also agree about the grass over the eye.

TFS and participating in this month's theme,

Grass is noted, but the horn and the settings is really nice.

Hi Anette, very nice colors and texture, the grass already mentioned. I find the dark stripe near the top of the image a wee bit distracting, but not sure you can do much about it TFS. Loi

    Hi Anette

The Rhino is Marvellous with stunning detail and texture The crack in the horn tell stories about a tool that has been extensively used.

    But the grass……….

    Andre.

Thank you very much everybody for your comments and time you took to do so.

The grass is noted and under construction. That takes quite some time, so far spend 1 1/2 hours on the grass. You see I am not an expert in cloning and cleaning!
Will invest the time, since I really do like this image.
Loi, the dark line you referring to, I do dislike that too, but could do just nothing about it. Maybe after my eye surgery I have learned more and can "operate" this away too

Have a great eve & thanks again

Hi Anette, I like the low POV, but as commented above, the grass over the eye is an issue, could you have not waited a little longer whilst the Rhino came into a clear area which there seems to be? Just a thought, but perhaps going into a Quad/Duo tone may also work and create a bit more depth & tone with the colours?

    Hi Steve,

would have loved to shot than when he came to the clear area, but Mr Rhino had different thoughts, he turned to the left!
A Quad/Duo tone, must check that out if that is working. Thanks so much Steve

    Have a great time

    Ciao
    Anette
