Taken the other day,not had much chance to get out with the camera for the last few weeks with the bad weather we have been having in my neck of the woods, but the weather is picking up a bit, there was 2 nuthatch's chasing each other, then every now and again would stop for a second or two, thats when I tried for a shot, and got this.cannon500mm IS L F4,EX ,GIVING ME 700MM,FL,MONOPOD,7D,CROP,sharrpened.ISO800,F5/6.1/500S.
Well done Chris,
I would say you nailed this one. I find Nuthatches so hard get right and have never been happy with my results. The exposure and IQ look good showing all the detail in the feather. I also like the tree. If you have more on the left I think this would work well in landscape too.
I like the IQ of the bird . I also like the color palette and really enjoy how the colors in the nuthatch match the tree.
Excellent DOF and nice that the nuthatch is almost parallel to the sensor.
My initial thought when I saw this was that the composition isn't quite right.
I think that this would look better as a landscape orientation or keep the vertical but move the bird down in the frame.
A lovely image,
Gail
Chris you nailed it - well done, super detail and exposure and a very clean image. The actual composition is ok for me but because he is looking sideways as opposed to downwards the balance doesn't quite work. As suggested maybe a landscape or if possible move the bird downwards.
