From the past SanDiego IPT had numerous chances at gulls. Actually had many chances at just about everything. One location I can highly recommend. This was made at the bottom of the cliffs with the unreal reflections. Can't wait to go back !!!

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

Very cool, Alfred. Sharp, great colors, nice pose, good composition, and good detail in the whites. Love the background.

Nice portrait of this great looking bird. The whites on the head seem a bit hot to me, but maybe they are not in the original file. Also I'd like to see it in a portrait crop. Sharpness is great.

Ah Alfred, the Heerman's Gull, a southwestern specialty. Absolutely superb portrait of this species. Did you wish for one looking up a little more?

I like the way you pushed the whites to the edge of the cliff, but no further. Great BG too. I even like the copyright where you put it.

I like it as is. The whites appear very natural to me, like what you would really observe out in the field. I also like the deep red bill...all around beauty of an image!

Really well done, Al! That background is outstanding! The whites look brilliant, but not overexposed, accurate to your subject. Nice comp with good negative space.

Great image Al. The subtle colors of the background really highlight the gull. And a perfect composition for a two-page magazine spread!!

I'll say one thing Al, the red stands out. And that makes it for me.
