Canon 7D Canon 500mm f4 &1.4TC1 hand held, ISO 640 1/1600 sec f5.6.
I have joined the hand held manual mode brigade. I have not used the tripod for the last week or so. It is a liberating experience!

I like the calm water, HA, BG and composition. Nice image Jonathan.
Liberating for sure if you can handle it. This one looks as if a bit of selective sharpening of the face would improve it. I too like the BKGR but the darker brown water that comes very near the head is somewhat problematic. Assuming that this was made on your home turf is that white eye line par for the course with this species? BTW, what is the common name of this bird?

Thanks Jim, Artie the common name is moorhen! I mislabelled the image for some reason lets call it a senior moment! (I was just testing to see if you would notice!). The white line is unusual I have not seen one before quite like this.

Hi Jon.
I like the subject, and I think the sharpness of it and the colors are good. But I wish that the water was calmer, so that the reflection would not be so disrupted. If it were mine, I think I'd crop a little off the bottom, a bit off the right side, and more off the left side. But I generally like this image. Thanks for posting it!![]()
