    Default Willet in Flight

Willet in flight, Shoreline Park, Mountain View, CA.

This is one of the few photos I've managed to get where the camera has managed to lock focus when the bird has been large enough in the frame. I'd like to have gotten a little lower, but I find it hard to track without my camera up to eye level. I'm a little ambiguous on the background. I can't decide if the waves add interest or are distracting.

CC greatly appreciated, thanks for looking.

Excellent focus, I wonder if the contrast is a little high, the darks seem very dark and the highlights are slightly blown.

You did a great job focusing on your willet in flight esp with that busy background. Speaking of which, I love seeing the willet against this background. It's quite artistic. It appears the light was quite high when you took this image which makes it difficult to get the whites and the blacks correctly exposed, so agree the bird is a tad contrasty. If you brought it back into ACR you could probably adjust the whites and blacks. I like your head angle, and it's fun to see the photograph taken from above. Good job.

Thanks for the suggestion about toning down the contrast. I bumped up the contrast to try to give the image a bit more pop before uploading. Here's the version with slightly less contrast.

nice topside view, these are fast fliers and you managed to get one in focus. BG is not the best but these guys after fly too close to the water. Too bad he had already passed you a bit, it appears a bit over sharpened to me BTW.
