Took a day trip to Algonquin Park last Thursday with the Evening Grosbeak as the main target species...I knew there was a sizeable flock frequenting the park's visitor centre feeders so I came armed with perches and seeds and setup around them. They did not disappoint, with many opportunities offered throughout the morning.
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld while sitting in the snow with lens resting on raised knees, small crop for comp, a couple of highlights in the BG toned down via low-opacity soft-brush clone tool.
That is flippin killer Daniel. As good as it gets! The detail and the exposure are excellent and the pose is perfect. Love the perch and the BG too. Calender material all the way.
Sweet pose, excellent IQ and I like your choice of comp. Exposure is right on the money too. Steady hands (and knee) indeed!
Gorgeous image, Dan. No hide needed here?
Really, really nice.
Cool look back pose and nice perch you used.
I know you are a stickler for eyes, I might focus the catchlight and remove the glare.
