These Ruddy Ducks are so much fun to watch and I love their breeding colors. This was taken just as the sunlight was getting harsh; my histogram didn't/doesn't show any clipping but I think the cheek is still a little hot even after pp?? and I'd like more detail in the blacks. Viewing appoaches are quite limited at this bird preserve so getting lower is challenging. Comments/advice appreciated and thanks for looking.

Love the pose Katie! Wish I could see it bigger..Looks like you have nice detail in the blacks and super in the reds (I've only seen a Ruddy once and in non-breeding plumage). That blue bill is wild, very cool.
Yes the white looks a bit hot and I know the black in the water is tail reflection, but I wonder how the image would look w/o it?
Hi Katie you did well for the Rudy. They are difficult to photograph because of their contrast range. Very soft light is the only way. You might have been able to get some fill flash on this one lowering the shutter speed.
We always want more detail in the whites but this is not bad at all. If you want try converting again and doing one linear. Sandwich the tow and there should be some difference. Love the classic pose and great bg !!!
