I'm heading back east on Saturday for some eastern songbirds. But until I get some new stuff here's another from Texas in February.
Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
Shutter speed: 1/125 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Exposure mode: Av
Flash: On - 3 flashes on bird and one on BG
ISO: 500
Focal length: 500mm + 1.4x
Cool looking BG, lively perch and well composed. The branch in front of the bird looks sharper then the bird. Might desaturate reds at head and breast just a bit to reveal more detail.
I think the reds look fine on my monitor Glen. I have to agree with Al about simpler perches and with Robert about the sharply focused branch in front of the bird. I would blur that branch so that it doesn't draw attention away from the cardinal.
