    Default Running Take Off

My original reaction to this capture was that the image was too busy. Having come back to it a couple times, am starting to like the feeling of it as it is pure chaos when a bunch of surf scoters decides to take off. Will be interested in your thoughts. Cropped for presentation, removed some specular highlights followed by the usual PP.

Hi Grace, any subject running across water for a take off always seems chaotic due to all the flying water, but they all seem to work for the action. Love the raised wings here, overall well exposed, and the 'bubble' behind the scoter adds interest. Well captured.

It's an interesting image. But I think it could be improved if you provided more space on the right for the bird to move into. I would also like to see the bird a little brighter, with more feather detail.

My apologies, Grace, for my suggestion that you add more space in front of your bird. I didn't realize that the image was so wide, and that I had to scroll to see all of it. Joe's suggestion of a pano might be worth considering.

Very nice and very different pose for this duck, Everything looks fine to me, I don't think it needs more of a crop.

Great take off pose and tack sharp with a great look at the eye and interesting bill.
I can see why you think it might be a bit busy. I guess in a perfect world the white foam of the cresting wave would not intersect with the scoter.
But it is still a keeper in my books!
    Well done,
    Gail
