This is not a really rare species over here, but not really common that they'll except a photographer at close range. I am happy with it. Like to hear your thoughts

    Hi Hillebrand,

I like the low angle, head position and eye contact. The head looks a little soft. The light is very pleasant. Is the bird tagged??

Lovely shorebird indeed. Nice image however I find it a bit dark. The focus seems to be on the shoulder.

    Hillebrand,

I too like the low angle and head position. The bird can be selected and adjusted to brighten it up - levels, curves or perhaps both will improve its look. Selectively sharpen the head too.

Great composition and exposure. Like the rusty crisp color of your subject...and good eye contact.

Thanks guys. I thought that I could get away with f10 and shoulder focus. I agree with the flash. No excuse, but my batteries were drained for my flash. D# batteries. I am searching for a real good brand now (any tips from Europeans?) The bird is tagged/ banded indeed, but a lot of birds in western europe are (good for research, bad for photo's). Are your rules for choosing the right gallery that strict? Next upload I'll run the band through photoshop. No problem.

    Cheers

    Hillebrand
