    Costa's Hummingbird
This morning while photographing butterflies at the Fairchild Botanical Garden I came across this tiny Costa's Hummingbird. I had tried to photography it before with the 180mm f/4 L macro lens but it was so slow to focus that none of the shots worked. In contrast the 300 f 2.8 II lens was incredibley fast to acquire focus.

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

    Hi henry.

I like the sharpness of the bird in the image. The two things I will point out is that the background is too much in focus. I know sometimes we don't have much room to improve it but if it was possible a further BG would had help the image. The other is that in my opinion the bird is too low in the frame. I know you cropped it to have the full flower in the image, but the bird is the main subject here, I would suggest to move the bird a bit higher if you have more canvas in the bottom.

    Hope this help

nice flower and a handsome hummer. The BG is a bit distracting here and I agree that the bird is a bit too low
