Another on the way to work shot --- happy to accept lashes :)

Didn't quite get the background effect that I was after - was looking for a liquid metal look, ahh there is always another day.

    Lance,

Nice job with the bird. Exposure and detail look good. Moving a bit to the left would have improved head angle - assuming he just didn't keep turning away as happens often.

I know what you mean about trying for the "metal" look on the water. Looks like you had diffused back/side light which makes the water look like this but and surface growth is hindering the overall look you mention.

Did you use flash? Of course getting low helps if that is an option to better minimize busy BG's.

    Hi Lance,
Very nice composition buddy. For my taste, I would off center your bird just a bit. I love that metalic look of the water. It gives the image character...

I agree with the others. I'd move the bird just a bit to the right. It's a beautiful image, though. You did a great job with the water and I really like the bit of colored reflection surrounding the bird. Nice work!

I like it a lot Lance !!!! .... no lashes for this one ... just two days of solitary confinement with bread and water :D:)

All I would do is move the bird a little back in the frame and down. For this I do like the higher angle for showing the water bg. Do like it a lot and could have been even better with the light striking a little different (nothing you could have done about it).

I like the pose and how well the feathers look. Would have tired the noise trick to turn his head slightly but good as is. Get a Big Congrats on this one !!!!!

thanks everyone - yes struggled with a crop on this one - no matter what I could not seem to get the bird out of the centre of the frame. Taken Horizontally cropped vertically in PS.

    Thanks

    Lance
