Hi Jonathan, Did you get this one in the garden? The bird looks stunning and I don't have a problem with the bg, but did think it looked very like a Blue breasted Kingfisher but there again my id skills are not the best ,but tell you what Jonathan sure wish it was mine ,smashing image.

Keithe I wouldn't argue with you, your ID may be better than mine - I was going on what someone told me! Yes the image was taken in hotel grounds - at Kairaba next door.

Hello Jonathan, beautiful bird nicely shown. If mine I might work on the background a bit to eliminate the bright green spots and the out of focus branches that pull my eye from the bird, a nice image nevertheless.

Hi Jon, Im jealous, I dont have a Woodlands in my files ( it is definately a Woodlands ) You have done well bringing out the colours that looks like he was deep in foliage. Typical pose, and nice and sharp. Maybe move him over to the right a touch.

Beautiful little bird, I to think a bit to the right.
I like the BG, I would just smooth it our a bit.

Excellent details and clean look at this beauty, Jon. The bird could go just a bit brighter on my screen and I'd fix the steely eye from the flash. Another vote for moving the bird a tad to the right.

Nice looking bird with plenty details and beauty colors, Jon. The background is a little busy.

I agree the background is a little busy but having said that you should see the original. I felt this provided just about the right compromise still retaining some elements of the natural surroundings. The bird was is in a very unevenly lit location, effectively in a localised woodland. (Albeit man made).
