Hi Dave, lovely low perpective, even though it meant a bit of poop. I like the angled pose from the bird, together with the detail and colours on the head. I felt the overall image needed a touch of toning down, so I ran a multiply blending layer. I came up with a different comp version too.

    Hi David,

I like Stuart's version (just a tad toned down - he's helped me with some of my images in the past with the same technique).

I like the original crop better though - just personal preference - , but I would consider blending the top right portion a bit. I would take a blank layer, pick a soft brush at 10% opacity, select the light brown in the background, and use that to paint over the top right corner. If you go a bit overboard, then go ahead and reduce the opacity of the layer. A bit easier and faster than cloning, IMO.

Patience and discomfort rewarded - I like the low angle. Stu's repost works well, yours was ok but the toning down certainly improved.

Great low angle and fine detail. Stu's repost helps both tone and comp, at least for me.

I like Stu's RP very much. It's nice to see the Flicker down on the ground most likely in search of ants. He's one of the woodpeckers that you often see on the ground since they are ant eaters.

The repost is just right, Nice low angle, and the habitat is where I always see them.

Great job getting at eye level with this guy. Love the eye contact. Your comp is excellent too. Stu's repost looks great to me. TFS

Great pose great eye level capture. If it was mine I might try to remove the wild feather at the top of his head as it distracts me just a bit.
