I am going to start bucking the trend in Avian photography and going with a shorter lens.
I have always gotten enough closeups, more of the bigger picture at my Duck pond…….
I liked this Lesser Scaup female.

    Beautiful shot...
Wish I lived near your duck pond!!
I love the colors in this one along with the sharpness and bow wake. I know we don't like to center the subject but I would like to see just a bit more of the ripples behind her.

PS: I'd love to get a shot like this with 700mm never mind 420!

Lovely. I was wondering about a little bit more space at the bottom?

Well done, Dan. You are really knocking these ducks out of the park. I would personally like to see a little more space on the right or the duck placed a tad more to the left. Love the feel of the water here.

    Very nice.
    IQ is excellent.
Love the colors and subdued tones.
I feel it could use a touch of CCW rotation,

The bird is nicely posed and composed, everything else looks superb.

    Dan,

When you have a pond with water like that, shoot it as wide as you want ;) Looking forward to some more!
