I like it Gary, this is lake Martin, I might have met this bird before :)
I like the pose and the comp, and the sharpness in the face is good, the gray tree makes the browns stand out.

Running some NR on the BG would really help out here, the BG is a bit noisey.

Beautiful bird. At iso 2000, am not surprised you have some noise. Still even the tree trunk has character.

I like the composition Gary but would prefer the head turn here. Noise mentioned and easily corrected for the BG.

Yes iso 2000 -it was 7:30 in the morning and if you know Lake Martin the sunrises behind those trees. My flash was in the car -far down the road. I'll correct the bg.

Hi Gary I know the area well and how little light is there !!! ..... remember to take your flash !!!!!

Not sure if you had a chance for a different angle? The space to the right seemed to have lees bg clutter !!! btw did you see any spoons? !!

Yes, but very far from the road or flying over head. Its not the place it was. There were no nests at all close by.

Must have been fun to find this one. He's a little dark, but you mentioned you didn't have your flash. The bright spot on the lower right is a bit distracting to me.
