    Hi Jonathan,
again a "new" species here, very nice.
Think you have done a good job with the flash , without blowing too many highlights.
Great detail in the subject and good sharpness.
I would try to reduce contrast in the BG (negative clarity in ACR for example) and push the subject with a contrast mask slightly to make it stand out more.
Personally i do find the frame a bit tight on Bottom and top.

Great pic! It seems to have been quite dark. What did you do for focus?

Hi Jon, I would agree with Andreas, likewise it's too top heavy, the ratio top to bottom needs to be reversed, it looks like the subject is slipping out of frame. Why did you go for Partial metering?

BTW Jon, don't forget to add your thoughts to others images too.

Andreas, had these hanging outside our lodge in Botswana, really cute, totally harmless, roosting up in the day so you can get some good images, however someone 'silly person' decided to picked one up that was injured and was bitten, subsequently the guest has a 3-6 month course for Rabies medication.

Thanks for the feedback, I have other images but this one was taken using my flash card in my friend's camera, he had set it to manual with flash, I used autofocus. I use evaluative metering and fill in flash usually in AV mode.
The composition is as is because there was a great deal of untidy leaves with differing contrast and colours, bits of light poking through etc, this I felt, is the most presentable for this particular bat.
Regards feed back to others I provide it consistently, the last few days have been difficult due to commitments with storm damage etc.

Hi Jon - I agree nice to see some different species. Andreas and Steve have made excellent points about the contrast and comp. Very nice detail.

Hi Jonathan, can't really add to points already made, but I think Bats in there roosting habitats must be difficult, was it in that garden?

Thanks Keith Annette. Yes Keith, the bats were in the garden and it was indeed very tricky to get a decent composition

Nice one here Jonathan...I agree that you could slice some off the top.

It's well exposed and I love the eye contact.
