    Default Bufflehead Take II

went out to the local pond today with my friend Bruce. It turned out to be cloudy and rainy at times. So Bruce let me use his 1DX with his 800mm... and I was not complaining. In 20 minutes I was able to produce a couple of (what would have been in good light) great shots. Bruce is taking off for a while, so this was my chance to use his gear ... and this is one of the ones I got today. With the good light this pond can get, I want to try a similar shot again. But I will have to do that with my 7D, most likely... Turns out, this was a bit underexposed with the light I had

You did well with the light you had.
I was at my duck pond today in the same conditions…..
For iso6400, this is not bad, and it is a cool pose and angle.

I agree, you did pretty good considering the shooting condition and the high ISO setting. Lots of action with the water flying. Good job hand holding that 800 too. Nice shot.

Excellent take off pose. I like the wing position and the splash behind.
