I captured this image on one of my walks around Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. The heron had caught the fish, sticks and all, and was flying to a place to separate and eat the fish.

Nikon D7000, Nikon 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 VR AF shot at 300mm, 1/2000, F/8, ISO 720, post processed in Lightroom 5, cropped for composition

    Excellent behavior shot.
I like the POV where you are above the GBH and this gives us a nice topside view of the heron.
The downside of the POV is that you see all those distracting bits of plants and algae dotting the water.
I would raise the exposure a bit on the entire image and see if you can get more detail out of the fish by doing some S & H work on the fish or Detail Extractor in NIK EFEX if you have it.
I see a sharpening halo around the bottom of the legs as well which is easily fixed.

Gail has pointed out some good builds for improving this image.
I like the dorsal view, wingspread and catch in the mouth. The water is a bit gunky, not much you can do about that but it does detract from the viewing pleasure :)

Nice flight shot with a lot of details. I agree with gail. A little more image processing looks like the image better
