Beautiful calling pose and I like the reeds- not too much and not too little!
I also like the way he is gripping the reeds.
IQ is excellent and I like the composition very much.
I find the image a bit dark and would suggest increasing the exposure or brightness a little bit.
I also see a slight magenta cast in the BG. Easy fix.
    Well done Holger,

Gail put that rather well, much agreed. Great comp, excellent call position and the habitat is great. Magazine stuff here. Strikingly beautiful bird.

Holger, very nicely done. One of your best IMO. I agree with Gail's comments and those couple of minor adjustments will give you a fine addition to your collection.

I like it Holger, nice image. The bird is very similar to the Tri-colored Heron in Florida.

I really like the pose and the way the diagonal reeds below the bird complement the image design. I think the bird can stand a little more sharpening, and I wish there were less reeds directly behind and above it (in a perfect world, right?)

I like these herons, we have them in South Africa too.

Love over all of the shot, I think it could use a tad more sharpening though.

Nice capture Holger. I agree with the comments. Brighten it up a bit and a bit more sharpening, otherwise a nice looking shot.

Excellent image Holger! I like the open beak, pose, setting and composition. Good advice above to improve this image.

Hi Holger, lovely calling pose showing their large beaks, and I like how the head is tilted upwards. We have a great view of the heron grasping the reeds, and Im fine with the surrounding BG. Well captured.
