    Default Mountain Bluebird

Overcast afternoon, this guy wouldn't stay still long enough to get a decent image. Stopped long enough for 4 snaps, this was the best. 20D, 400DO + 1.4xTC, f6.3, 1/320s, ISO 400, Eval Mtr, cropped.

Really nice. Love the colors and the BG. The eye seems to have two catchlights to me. Overall a very good job and I know what you mean about them not staying still.

A beautiful bird, Steve. Nice light, a good pose, and good sharpness. I think a tighter crop would work well here.

Thanks JP. Didn't notice the double catchlight but since I don't use flash or put them in during PP, I really don't notice them too much as long as they're there. There's a 9,400 ft mountain at my back so the catchlight could be the sky split by the peak.

But you know I think the subtle "out of the box" crop works so well here. The feel of the image is one of understatement (despite the spectacular colour of the bluebird) and the crop is part of the package. I absolutely love this image.

I would tighten the crop as well. Other than that, you got a beautiful image here!
