I waited for this Barred Owl to return to its nest tree. I new it's flight path went thru a narrow area that was illuminated by the last of the days sunlight. The rest of its flight path and the bg were cloaked in dark shadow. I was delighted when everything went according to my plan.

A great photo under difficult conditions, Jim! If you have not given the details, I would have thought it's a night shot with flash!

How cool! You knew how to get the image, pre-visualized, and go it! Gotta be satisfying

Love the colors on this owl, the light made for a beautiful though difficult setup. Well done. You've got to love it when a plan comes together.

I like the wing position, sharpness, dark BG and composition. The shadow of the beak on the far wing really adds to the image. Very well done Jim!

Great thinking on your behalf and fantastic result. I love black backgrounds, especially if you can get them without using flashes.
