This Osprey was looking quite disheveled after the remnants of hurricane Ernesto blew through.
I'm undecided on how much of the platform (actually built for the Osprey and is a nest site every year) to leave in. On one hand, it adds to post hurricane chaos but on the other . . .
Hi, Jim
I understand what you mean about adding to the hurricane chaos but I find it somewhat distracting and don't necessarily get the idea that this represents a hurricane. If you'd had destruction or something else that would make me think "hurricane" then I'd want to leave it. I'm wondering if having the bird much smaller in the frame and more of the platform might have given that feeling. For this one I'd go ahead and crop a fair amount from the bottom. I do like the look that the Osprey is giving you....rather a confused look and to add to the look.....there's that feather standing straight up.
The original really only contains a bit more of the platform on the right side of the frame. I don't think it would change much other than make the bird too centered to add it back.
I don't think I've seen "reposts" addressed in the guidelines, did I miss that somewhere? I'm thinking about a crop right to where right front corner of the platform would just be in the frame.
Jim
That's pretty much where I'd crop it. If you want to crop it and then repost, just do it just reply to the thread and upload it there....it should work fine.
Nice image of this juvie Osprey. I like the head on look and ruffled feathers. The errant feather adds interest and a touch of humor. I agree about the crop. Techs look just fine.
Jim
It might be a little tight on the bottom for the tail. I might add a little back. You're probably going to show a little of the trash in the platform but not much.
