Nice find and photo. I like the comp. For sure I'd get rid of the long thin sprout shooting up at left, and I do find the subject itself a tad dark.

This image is really working for me. I don't think I'd remove any of the twigs. Love the mottled BG on this one. Bird looks as though it needs a little more sharpening.

Thanks everyone for the input. The twigs are a quick clean up but I'm more about including the environment then just have another dime a dozen owl on a clean branch.
