Beautiful, Douglas! Really like how we can actually see a background!
Two notes... there is a bright "blob" on the BG just above the bird's head...dust? Some noise? (or maybe it's just my monitor)....
Seldom see the crest extended like this... Very Cool!

Beautiful colors and nicely sharp on the head.

I find myself wondering if you could reveal a bit more detail from the area between the eye and the bill. I realize the light doesn't present the opportunity, but some selective editing just might enhance the image.

I too see the small smudge referenced by Sandy.

Realizing it's a personal choice, I'd consider a more pano crop to eliminate all the light area across the top of the image.

To my eye, that light area is very busy, and doesn't add anything to the impact of the photograph. In fact to me, it somewhat distracts from the beautiful bird.

Overall, I really like what you captured in beautiful light.

The recrop works much better! Great hairdo, reminiscent of a reddish egret. I wonder if it is a large crop though as the IQ seems a tad "coarse" and not as crisp on the fine details.
