    You did your best in a bad situation. Sharp, and a good EXP, but working in filtered light--the bird partly in sun and partly in shade--is an image killer 99% of the time...

    This is golden advice and I hadn't really realised it fully until I read it here. I find this type of lighting really compelling in the viewfinder but almost always disappointing in the final result.

    I really like the image though. it has a bit of feel of Orton Effect to it.
