This is an ancient relative of what we knew as the mastodon. Became extinct due to poor eyesight. Textures, liquefy, poster edges where the main filters used.

Too bad about the extinction ! But you certainly managed to find a very detailed and colorful specimen. Well done! Love the feather bits coming out of the head & the subtle swirls of dark colors for the bkgd.

Hey, Jackie, this will make me have nightmares! Love the 4 eyes and the great hairdo. He has sort of a Darth Vader look

Jackie, this one is other worldly wild! The chest area appears as rows of teeth in an open mouth between the "tusks". I'd like to try some of these flips at some point, is their a tutorial or sticky somewhere outlining the basics?

Honestly not sure how to comment or critique for this theme week... Everything is so unique it's up to personal interpretation.

this is very well done, though not one I'm enjoying.

Randall there is a link in Workflow and Useful Links at the top of the page. http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php/79636-Creature-flips I find the hardest thing to do is pick a good original image that will make for an interesting creature. Once you have done your flip sky's the limit for adding other filters and textures.

I love the title and your insight into the paleontology of the critter. The image is quite compelling, too, and the colors are especially good.

Like Liz, I'm having difficulty commenting on this week's theme photos.
I'm glad you all are having fun with the theme.
