this is a big crop, i did get the full bird image but i like the inpact the crop gives, i have given some color to the sky here as it was into the sun so the sky washed out.

I like the open bill, makes him almost look like a raptor. :) The light looks a bit harsh, and I would go for a horizontal crop. If you use S/H or curves, make sure just to select the bird to avoid a halo.

yes it does show more than i thought i used the magnetic lasso tool i will have to find a better way of doing it .

With a clean BG like this you can use the magic wand tool on the sky and inverse. That should do the trick.
