    Default Baltimore Oriole Male

The Orioles are back and singing their hearts out. I have 6 males, so far, running around and chasing each other. My apple trees are blooming and they land in them for brief seconds. This one stayed for about 10 seconds and let me image him. He looked right at me. I was about 35 feet away, sitting in my office and using my open window. I love my new Gitzo tripod with Wimberley head. It is amazingly steady. Cropped for a 6x8, about 65% of frame left here. Contrast and minor curves in PS 6.

Canon EOS-1D Mark II N, Shooting Date/Time 5/14/2008 14:315, Shutter Speed 1/800Sec. Av(Aperture Value) F8.0, Evaluative metering, Exposure Compensation +1/3, ISO 400, Lens: EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM +2.0x, Focal Length: 600.0 mm, Image size: 3504 x 2336, Image Quality: RAW, Flash Off, White Balance Auto, AI Servo AF, Picture Style Standard.

The bird is nice and sharp Grady. Exposure looks good too. The perch is quite busy, and it's a shame that one of the leaves covers part of the body. I think I wouldn't mind all of the flowers if there were nothing between them and the lens. The OOF stuff in front of the flowers makes for a distraction IMO. Thanks for posting!

Great bird and the setting is great, just too busy and as mentioned the OOF leaves in the foreground are distracting. I hope the oriole will choose a cleaner setting next time. :)
