Hi Tim, and welcome to BPN! You captured a nicely sharp image. I like the perch and the way it frames the bird. The contrast is high, though, with the histogram showing both blacks and whites pushed against the walls. It would be nice to see more detail in both darks and lights, especially in the dark areas of the face -- it should be possible to bring out more detail in RAW conversion, assuming it was a RAW capture.
I see some chromatic aberration (red fringing on the right and green on the left). That should be removable, often with a profile for the camera and lens, in the RAW converter. How are you converting (what software)?
I also see you posted in the ProPhoto color space. That's good for working in PS but for posting on the internet, converting to sRGB is important. There is a sticky at the top of this forum with some information.
Would love to hear more about your processing and see you revisit the areas mentioned. And I look forward to your active participation here!
Thanks for the feedback Dianne. I'm shooting in RAW and using LR5 for processing. I will definitely revisit the image, looking at the areas you mentioned and repost.
Updated image. I boosted the detail in both highlights and shadows, turned down the contrast and removed CA in Lightroom. Then sharpened in PS (less that the original version).

Would love to see it.... but post says "Image Unavailable".

Updated image - CA removed and details pulled out of shadows in LR5. Contrast dialed back a bit as well.

Hi Tim
I can't see your original so can't comment on that. I like the pose of the bird and its perch and the exposure looks good. On your repost there is still some CA dark areas of the background. There also seems to be quite a bit of noise in the image especially for iso320.

I can't see any of the images -- look forward to your repost.
