We visited Merritt Island NWR this week, when we were at KSC. We arrived there late in the afternoon, after 3:00. While I have seen better days, there were some very good flocks of ducks, egrets, great blues, wood storks and especially spoonbills active in the areas accessible from the Black Point Wildlife Drive.

We didn't see any gators in MINWR, but we did see two while driving the Biolab Road. Not the best, but two are better than none. There were also a lot of shore birds, egrets and great blues along the road.

I would say it is a good time to visit. We were a little rushed being late in the day and having to get back to Orlando and then home. But a good day there would be a great day!
