Hi William, this has moved up another notch, great to see you have some good weather at last.
Nice detail and with this one you have light in the eye, the open beak and berry poised to be eaten is great. Perhaps a slight head turn more o the left, but hey... Processing and IQ has also taken a big step forward, keep it up.
Good to see you being able to upload direct, makes a difference and remember, you can go to 1200px wide.

Great image!
I am trying to figure out how to lure the waxwings in my backyard into camera range. Are they lured by pretty much any kind of berry?

Hi Bryan
In Fife, where I live, there is a lot of Rowan trees, which produce ripe red berries in the winter, and this seems to attract the waxwings(and redwings). So, if you plant a few Rowans in your garden, This will attract them. I have seen the odd bird, in small gardens, eating the berries from a single small tree. They will eat allsorts of ripe berries, but are mainly attracted to red ripe berries. The image I took, was next to a busy main road, so the noise etc, dont bother them, as long as the berries are ripe.
Apparently Scandinavia has had a good yield of berries this year, and because of this, waxwings have been rare in Scotland. Why fly over the North Sea for dinner, when its on your doorstep
I have seen only eight this year, but some years we get flocks of hundreds.
Hope this helps
Cheers, William

I really like this William I find the pose of the bird much better than your last waxwing image.
