In order to capture this low angle shot, I arrived at the jetty at high tide when these Purple Sandpipers are either roosting or foraging on the higher rocks hopping from one to the other.

Excellent color, contrast and detail. I like the way the bird is positioned so that it walks into the frame.
You might consider warming up the colors on the bird slightly.
    Wonderful portrait!

Hi Rob, I like the angled pose, and looks like the light was kind to you - the finer plumage shows up nicely. Love the blue of the water BG.

Another one of my bogey birds, Great shot and the angle of the rock and bird spot on from where I am sitting.
    Like it.

I too think the way the Sandpiper is positioned on the rock is very pleasing, it's also a very fine shot of a great looking bird.

Top notch image, Rob. I don't think there's anything that I'd change. Pose, techs, setting - all A1. TFS.

Good planning, Rob. Tough to get an eye-level shot on the jetty, but your strategy paid off. Love the pose, comp, and Barnegat BG.
