Default Weekly Theme: Tribute to Dave Phillips

Dave was big on photographing cats, his own and some ferals. He was a master at Dynamic Auto Painter. I worked quite a while on getting this using Portraitist. There is quite a few settings, a detail mask, a blur mask (which I used for the BG) and sliders which influence the hue of the colour palette you use. I didn't mask the eyes back in, which I usually do, but darkened the pupils. Dave, would have done a much better job than me, but it took me about ten tries before I tweaked the program and got it to do what I wanted. This is a friend's cat.

I like what you've done. The orange tones are very nice. I like the softness of the image, and your choice of darkening the pupils instead of masking the eyes back in gives them just enough detail without compromising the softness. It's beautiful.

the softness is a good app. I'm not a "cat person" but like this one. Seems soft and loving and reminds me of a couple of Dave's animal portraits.

Beautiful work. I love the softness of the image and color. I like the eyes as they are. They stand out nicely while fitting in with the softness of the image. I smile when I look at it.

Nicely done Jackie- Your processing, most notably the treatment of the eyes, enhances the stare of the cat and grabs the viewer's attention. Good choice of color palette as the tones are very natural for an orange tabby. The format fits the crop and subject's head angle well, resulting in a fitting tribute image.
