The weather has been real tough this winter , so I haven't shot much , and needless to say , haven't posted in a while. Went out today for a short while. Not many winter ducks as 80% of the pond is still frozen. attempted this high key shot and would be interested in any and all thoughts.
Your gull is sharp, good pose, and although I like the high key concept, the whites on the breast are in the 254-255 range, and I think it would present better with a reduced exposure and some white recovery.
I also would consider a crop from the top and a bit form the left, although the current crop does give a sense of the vast area of snow he was in.
I enjoy the subject placement and general composition. I like how clean the snow is, and how it just fades to whiteness, with no discernable transition....the snow makes an artistic canvas here for sure. I like the subtle shadow of the bird. Beautiful winter ringbilled gull image Joe.
