The theme started out slowly, but there were some really nice images entered.

!. Small in the Frame by Randall Farhy I love the soft pastel palette and great use of negative space. The bird singing is a bonus. It gives me the feeling of how our creatures really live in the 'big outdoors". Daunting! Lovely image, congrats Randall.

    2. Summer Tanager by Judy Howle, That's a cheeky looking bird. Lots' going on in the image, but regardless my focus goes straight to the tanager and his/her eye contact. I also like how the sign was pointing up to the bird. Nice processing too Judy. Congrats!

    3. Small in the Frame by Wendy Kates. A classic shot, I like it. Using tonal contrast was a good idea to create more interest in the overall image. Congratulations Wendy!

Congratulations, Randall! It is a wonderful image and perfect for the theme. Congrats also to Judy and Wendy - both nice theme images. Thanks for judging, Jackie

Well this certainly is a pleasant surprise! Judy's Cardinal image still fascinates me, I can't help but imagine it an illustration in a children's book. There's just something about it that set's it apart. Wendy took a challenging subject and turned it into an interesting study with the feel of an old school watercolor. Thank you, and thanks for taking the time to judge our work Jackie :)

Thanks Jackie, and congrats to Randall and Wendy! Randall, it's a summer tanager, not a cardinal, but hey, still a red bird!
