Actually this was taken with two chick in the nest about 70 feet away. I got a whole spray of well exposed shots, but unfortunately none have good eye contact. This is about a 15% crop with a few parts of the tree cropped and cloned out.

Love the wing position of the male. And your choice of perspective. For me, closer to 3X2 would be more pleasing. Is the females head sharp? BTW, you left out the "b" in your name on the image.

Great action. I agree with Artie that the composition could be improved and I'd eliminate the cut off end of the perch by coming in from the left and top (as viewed). I see your dilemma, you could stand where you got a great wind spread with fairly even light, or move a bit to get the male's eye out of shadow and more visible. Guess I'd have taken it both ways, altho hard in the heat of the moment. You say that your shots were well exposed but the whites look pretty muddy, did you have to work to pull them back?
Arite, Grace. Joe,
Thanks for the feed back. Here is a repost trying to use you suggestions, I originally used a more square crop as I thought the 3/2 put the birds head in the center. Artie the females head is fairly sharp, I should have stopped down though. As far as the muddy whites, Not only are you right, I cant believe I let it go. This particular Eagle has a strangely dark tail, but I agree the whites were off. I pushed them pretty hard in the repost . perhaps too far. Thanks again
Terrific action/behavior you captured here. I think I like the crop on the RP better. I still don't think your whites look right. In the original image they appear yellowish rather than muddy. In the RP, they look a little muddy.
