I appreciate the many suggestions I received on how to improve this orchid, which I first posted on January 21.
I reworded the image starting near the beginning of the editing. At that early stage, I cloned out the large green stem that annoyed me, and created a new, simple stem. It isn't perfect, but I'm much more pleased with it.

The simpler stem was a good way to go, and it's nice that you retained the green in the background. It would be nice if the transition in focus to the new stem were more gradual, but I'm not sure I'd have noticed that if I weren't focused on that part of the image.

Very nice! I see now why you wanted to get rid of the original stem.

Thanks. Yes, Diane, that stem was a sore thumb! Dennis--I noticed that also--perhaps I can blur it a bit up the stem.

Hi, Anita, I like this one much better. I agree with Dennis and the need for a bit more blur (or paste a little bit of texture) on the stem but that should be an easy fix.
