Waited nearly a year before seeing the first YCNH here. It was really tamed and I managed to get really close to him with patience.

    Not much light that evening.

I really like this image and see anything to fault.
Nice to see the prey as well as the bird. Everything looks sharp and well exposed and the background is nice.

I do wonder if cropping nearer to the birds head would give an even stronger composition.

Thank you so much Iain. I also tried to crop closer for stronger comp. on the bird's head. But the IQ do suffered a bit, specially the noise start showing a bit more around the dark areas.

    Thanks again for your reply.

Ray, A fun image of one of my favorite subjects. The dark bird and bright background works well here. I like your choice of composition.

Top drawer. Superb to get the bird with a crab in its bill.

Super behavior/action captured here. I have reposted with a few tweaks. Recropped, did a slight big of lifting of the shadows and sharpened a tad more.

Very nice, I can hardly tell there was little light. The crab bubbles and that beautiful eye, Grand job!

Night Herons have great eyes and you caught that well.
