    Sometimes when you're panning a bird in flight, you get a surprise, as did these Pintails in the landing zone. This is from Brigantine just after Christmas. C&C appreciated.

    D7000, 700mm, ISO 800, 1/2500s @ f/7.1 manual, gitzo and mongoose.

    Great action image Bill. If anything I find the ripples in the water behind the heron a bit distracting and wish the two ducks in front of the heron were more in focus (but that would be asking a lot :)). Thanks for sharing

    We always see interesting things happening around in nature, the challege is to caputre it , you have done nicely

    Holy HERON, Batman! Great capture! I wouldn't want the ducks in front to be any more in focus... as a large print, would like to see a bit more space on the bottom right... maybe a bit sharper on the heron's head. Totally cool image!
